Become Love & Give Hope - Shea Forbes

In a way, a person is an accumulation of experiences and relationships.  I am grateful for the influence that many people have had on me and for the love that has been poured into me.  I believe that we can all become love and give hope when we discover who loves us and where hope comes from. It has been a journey to find those answers.

"Now that I have experienced the truth of hope and perfect love, I want to share it with as many people as possible. Jesus is the source of both."

As many of you know, I currently work at Harvest OC as the 5th-6th Grade Bridge Coordinator. It is an awesome honor and responsibility to bridge the gap of vulnerable aged kids from adolescents to teen-agers in their faith and relationship with Jesus. Our incredible team is influencing the kids now with love and the power of God’s Word. Future generations are being risen to be fearless worshippers and warriors for the Kingdom! God has radically moved through my life, and I am humbled by His perfect plan - in which He chooses to use imperfect people, like me.

If you knew my whole story, you would understand why it is hard to fathom that this is my life now. God has rescued me over and over again. I thank Him for His Son, Jesus, for saving me and never letting me go, even when I ran far away. During my twenties, there was a long period of dark years where I was utterly lost, hurting, broken and unrecognizable. I became a stranger and had no idea who I was. Jesus however, was still with me; even though I was trying to forget about Him. God is a forgiving, loving Father, a Redeemer. He restores all things and has made me new. I now know that I am His chosen daughter who accepts His unfailing love. He has given me so much. It is only reasonable that I give Him everything I have in return, my whole heart. I freely choose to surrender my life to the One who gave His life for mine.

My church notes from 20 years ago ...

It is interesting that I still have some of my high school church notes that I wrote nearly twenty years ago. One of the pages is decorated and in big, bold letters says, “Australia Mission Trip!” I remember I was really excited about being a part of that. It turned out that I never made it to Australia, nor did I ever go on any mission trip. That was my heart’s desire as a young girl, excited to live for Jesus.

It has taken many years and tears to rediscover that little girl. I was lost, buried under shame and guilt for the decisions I made. But God found me; He took me by the hand and told me it was okay to come out from my hiding place. I am no longer afraid. I can now live for and like Jesus! I am thirty-three years old and finally taking a big step of faith into another country.

This is the step that I so badly wanted to take as a young girl, but got derailed, distracted and disconnected from my purpose and calling.

Jesus said we are to love God and love people.

We can do that in many ways ...

He constantly gives us opportunities to become love and share the hope found in Jesus. That is what I am committed to do in my everyday life. Be a light and a mirror so that when people look at me, they see Christ in me and are inspired to know Him more. I am so thankful that I am planted in a place where I can grow deep roots firmly in God’s grace, being used as a vessel to pour out love, joy, peace and hope to people around me. Recently, I asked the Lord to stretch my faith and enlarge my heart for the people He loves. He is answering my prayer from nearly two decades ago - to be sent out to another place where people do not live like we do in America. The Lord has put a burden on my heart for the nations, especially in South America. The people of Brazil need Jesus and revival just like everyone else in the world does. They do not have the luxury of mega churches and freedom like we do. I pray that God sends me “to open their eyes, so they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God. Then they will receive forgiveness for their sins and be given a place among God's people, who are set apart by faith in [Jesus]” (Acts 26:18).

You can partner with me in this journey to touch lives in the name of Jesus. The power is in prayer and we can do more together!  I am so grateful for your love and support. If it is on your heart to provide monetary means for me to go on this mission trip, I am overwhelmed and sincerely grateful. I also hope that from this letter, a buried passion in you is discovered and ignited. I hope that you are compelled with compassion and follow Jesus! I urge you to walk worthy of your calling. “I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope He has given to those He called--His holy people who are His rich and glorious inheritance” (Ephesians 1:18).

Nevaeh Now is a ministry that helps get people to the places God has called them to.

My goal is to raise $3,000 by December 12, 2017. Your donation is tax deductible and a donation receipt will be emailed to you.

Your prayers are a blessing and I am grateful for each person who reads this.  “I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources He will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit” (Ephesians 3:16). The joy of the Lord is my strength - in Him we are made whole.
